Pan Con Tomate (Spanish Toast)

Using five everyday ingredients only, this simple yet delicious toast is a quick and traditional snack straight from the streets of Spain.

Ingredients

* Switch between cup/oz and g/ml in Account Settings*

  • Ciabatta Loaf Ciabatta Loaf 1 1
  • Large Vine Tomatoes Large Vine Tomatoes 1 1
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2 tbsp 2 tbsp
  • Garlic Garlic 1 clove 1 clove
  • Table Salt Table Salt pinch pinch

Instructions

  1. 1.Preheat oven to 180C.
  2. 2.Over a large bowl, use the largest holes on a grater to grate the tomatoes and discard the skin, season with salt and set aside.
  3. 3.Halve the ciabatta lengthways and then slice into 4cm pieces crossways.
  4. 4.Place bread on a baking tray, soft side up, drizzle with olive oil, toast lightly until golden brown.
  5. 5.Remove bread from oven and rub with the halved garlic clove.
  6. 6.Spread the grated tomato onto the toast, drizzle with more oil and sprinkle with salt. Serve immediately.
