  • Garlic Garlic 2 cloves 2 cloves
  • Table Salt Table Salt 1/4 tsp 1/4 tsp
  • Water Water 120ml 1/2 cup
  • Yeast Yeast 5g 1 tsp
  • Olive Oil Olive Oil 2 tsp 2 tsp
  • Granulated Sugar Granulated Sugar 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp
  • Topping:
  • Sesame Seeds Sesame Seeds 1 tbsp 1 tbsp
  • Garlic Garlic 2 cloves 2 cloves
  • Olive Oil Olive Oil 1 tbsp 1 tbsp
  • Fresh Cilantro Fresh Coriander handful handful

Instructions

  1. 1.Combine lukewarm water, sugar, yeast and olive oil, let it sit for 10-15 minutes until it turns foamy.
  2. 2.Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl and add crushed garlic.
  3. 3.Pour in the yeast blend and slowly mix it with the flour. Add a bit more flour if the dough feels too moist, however it should not be too dry.
  4. 4. Knead well for 8-10 minutes, form the dough into a smooth ball shape, cover it with cling film or a kitchen towel.
  5. 5.Keep it in a warm place and let it rise until it has reached about double its size (1-2 hours).
  6. 6. Sprinkle some flour onto a flat work surface, take the dough and knead it for about 1-2 minutes, then divide it into 4 equal-sized parts.
  7. 7.Roll each dough ball into a 2-4mm thick oval shape.
  8. 8.Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top and roll them lightly into the dough.
  9. 9.Now mix the topping from crushed garlic and olive oil, set aside.
  10. 10.Place one piece of naan dough into a large, non-stick frying pan in high heat, brush the garlic oil onto its surface and heat for 1-2 minutes until you see bubbles popping all over the naan’s surface and a nice brown colour developing.
  11. 11.Flip over, brush the other side with the garlic oil and heat for another 1-2 minutes.
  12. 12.Remove the naan from the pan, cool for 5-10 minutes and decorate it with the chopped coriander leaves (cilantro) to serve.
